The Royal Northern and Clyde was formed in 1978 from a merger of The Royal Northern and The Royal Clyde Yacht Clubs. The Clubhouse is situated in Rhu with extensive grounds leading down to the Gareloch and is available for hire to both members and non-members, by arrangement. The club can cater for any occasion, large or small, from weddings to funerals, please visit our Hospitality page for further details.
We have a very active racing fraternity - in fact the original Gareloch One Design yachts which were built here in 1924 are still racing on a weekly basis and many of our members are involved in the Gareloch One Design Association. For the Gareloch One Design website click here

There are active classes of Gareloch One Designs, Pipers, Sigma 33's and others racing. Some of our members sail cruising yachts and power boats over wide ranging areas, others prefer to be land based and frequent the club for lunches and to meet friends and colleagues. Our worldwide membership is drawn from people with many differing backgrounds but with the common interest of seafaring.

Our lively cadet members are encouraged to sail in many classes of dinghies and keelboats in addition to enjoying a thriving social programme.

Club merchandise, with the RNCYC insignia comprising sweaters, sweatshirts, cufflinks, ties, glasses and many other items is available to our members.
